Our History

The Origin

The birth of Aklla Essentia and our mission

Aklla Essentia was born after a transformative trip to Peru. It was there that David and Marietta discovered the extraordinary textile tradition of the Andes: a living heritage woven by skilled hands, passed down for generations.

The unparalleled softness of baby alpaca fiber, combined with the beauty of ancestral techniques, revealed a clear mission: to give life to a brand that connects Andean textile art with a contemporary, responsible, and lasting vision.

Aklla Essentia a name with a root

Aklla means “the chosen one” in Quechua, the ancestral language of the Inca Empire. The akllas were women selected for their skill and sensitivity, especially in the art of weaving.

Essentia , on the other hand, speaks of the essential, the authentic, the pure. Together, these words define our philosophy:
Select the best, weave with purpose, preserve the essential.

Our Mission

Preserve tradition

We carefully select our suppliers, from spinning mills to garment factories, ensuring they collaborate with artisan communities that safeguard ancient techniques. We want their art to not only survive, but to flourish and be projected to the world.

Promote sustainability

We work exclusively with partners who integrate sustainable practices into their production chain: use of clean energy, environmental certifications, fiber traceability, natural dyes, and respect for animal welfare.

Creating conscious luxury

For us, luxury isn't about excess, but about essence. It's about durability, ethics, and intention. Each piece that's part of the Aklla Essentia universe has been selected not only for its beauty, but also for the story and care behind it.

Looking to the Future

At Aklla Essentia, we don't conceive our products as simple objects, but rather as choices that speak of care, purpose, and sensitivity. Our vision is to continue creating an ethical and timeless textile universe , composed of pieces that invite us to inhabit spaces with beauty, calm, and awareness.

Each new product we introduce is the result of a rigorous selection process, where we prioritize the quality of materials, respect for the environment, traceability, and an emotional connection with what's essential.

We want every fiber, every texture, and every design to be part of your corners, to take care of your home as if we did it ourselves .

“We select each piece as if it were our own, with the same care, respect, and emotion.”
